Developed the NIADE metric to quantify Covid-19 risk in occupied spaces
Oakland, CA – December 9, 2021 – Vigilent, the leading provider of Dynamic Cooling Management™ systems, today announced that its President and CTO Clifford Federspiel was named to the 2021 Environment+Energy Leader 100.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Dr. Federspiel developed the Non-Infectious Air Delivery Equivalent (NIADE) metric, which is being used by commercial and institutional facilities to address airborne infection risk. NIADE quantifies airborne Covid-19 risk in occupied spaces. It can also be used to assess risk in future pandemics, including annual influenza seasons.

He is the recipient of the Ralph G. Nevins Physiology and Human Environment Award from ASHRAE, and holds numerous patents in the field.
