What We Do
Vigilent’s platform integrates with virtually any type of data center infrastructure and feeds AI-driven applications and services that help ensure highly resilient and efficient operations.
Vigilent Ties It All Together
Vigilent's AI-powered platform includes modular capabilities that allow us to serve large and diverse facility portfolios.
The platform includes AI algorithms that monitor environmental conditions and infrastructure. The AI safely and securely takes control actions that dynamically optimize the environment while informing facility management and Vigilent’s human copilots about important risks and opportunities across data center portfolios. Security is embedded in every platform element, and the solution can operate entirely within a customer’s firewall.
Vigilent’s transparent, standards-based architecture helps avoid vendor lock-in. The platform integrates with diverse cooling infrastructures including chillers, CDUs, fan walls, AHUs, economizers and more. Vigilent also connects with BMS, DCIM, power and other systems by leveraging industry standards and a public API. Integration capabilities have been developed and proven for 18 years, across more than a thousand deployments globally.
AI Optimization
Facility teams set desired operating conditions, and Vigilent AI takes care of the rest. The AI continuously ingests telemetry, analyzes system behavior, and builds an understanding of how every cooling asset affects thermal conditions across the entire data center.

Using this learned model of the facility’s actual operating state, Vigilent AI predicts optimal control actions needed to achieve the operator’s goals. Advanced, dynamic control algorithms then issue commands to cooling systems, improving performance in real-time.

Results are constantly measured against predictions. As conditions change, the AI learns, refines its models, and improves decision-making. Over time, equipment behavior and thermal response are characterized with increasing accuracy—delivering progressively more optimized outcomes.

Vigilent AI uses three proven techniques: supervised learning, model predictive control, and extremum seeking. Supervised learning accelerates time-to-value by delivering measurable efficiency gains quickly. Model predictive control enforces explicit, customer-defined constraints, continuously solving a constrained optimization problem to ensure safe, reliable operation with no risk of unbounded or unrealistic outcomes. In parallel, Vigilent AI also applies extremum seeking, using real-time gradient-based optimization to continuously discover and maintain optimal operating points across large, highly complex cooling plants.

The result is significant performance gains with built-in safeguards that protect uptime, equipment, and operator trust.
Immediate Impact
Vigilent delivers superior SLA thermal compliance, with improvement often seen the first day that AI control is activated. Heat-caused IT outage risk is reduced, because the AI knows exactly what to do to rapidly add cooling to each and every rack.

-
Better SLA Compliance
-
Lower Outage Risk
Vigilent's AI delivers cooling only where and when it’s needed, reacting to the dynamic nature of IT load. PUE is reduced, which can free up power for more IT. There is also less wear and tear, which lengthens infrastructure life and reduces the need for replacement parts.

-
Lower PUE
-
Less Wear & Tear

Industrial Grade
Vigilent’s platform and AI are designed for mission-critical environments, where uptime is paramount and failure is not an option. The entire solution can be premises-based, within an operator’s IT firewall, which avoids security risks associated with the cloud.

Vigilent’s AI has multiple safeties built in to protect against AI anomalies and failures.
AI safety features include thermal compliance constraints, model- and rule-based exploratory control actions to protect against disruptions, and machine learning that is designed to mitigate hallucinations.
Conventional safety features include fail-safes at the cooling unit level to protect against network failures, Guard Mode to protect against temperature exceedances, alerts and alarms to notify operators about any out-of-bounds conditions, and manual overrides.
Trust comes from the fact that the operator is in control, specifying objectives and constraints for the AI, and that AI decisions are both observable and explainable.
Integrated Security
Customers consistently rate our security as best-in-class, and describe Vigilent as one of the most proactive vendors they work with. Management Tools
Vigilent provides analytics and tools that give facility executives greater control and site awareness than they have ever had before. For day-to-day management, an intuitive user interface puts facility staff in charge of the AI, specifying what thermal SLAs they want the AI to achieve. The user interface also includes a powerful trending tool and reports that show SLA compliance, cooling capacity and performance, energy use and carbon emissions.
Vigilent Insights™ is also part of our platform, providing advanced analytics capabilities for operators including customized metrics. Insights allows facility executives to evaluate performance on a site-by-site and room-by-room basis across their entire portfolio, highlighting areas that need greater attention and identifying where best practices can be learned.
Copilot Service
Vigilent provides a copilot service, delivered remotely by human experts, that helps customers achieve desired outcomes for their thermal environment while minimizing workload and cost. The copilot focus is to maximize operational performance, increase facility value, and meet sustainability objectives by answering such questions as:
-
Where can I add additional revenue-generating IT?
-
What remediation actions can further reduce PUE?
-
Are the Vigilent AI and my cooling assets properly configured?
-
How do I improve airflow?
-
Where do I have insufficient cooling redundancy?
-
Which cooling units are most critical to maintaining SLAs?
-
What cooling infrastructure should receive priority maintenance?
-
How do I ensure continued optimization when the facility changes?
-
Where should I spend my cooling infrastructure budget?
-
Are the Vigilent AI and my cooling assets properly configured?
-
How should I evaluate future options for cooling?

IoT Technology
Many Vigilent deployments are software-only, leveraging integrations with existing cooling infrastructure from a variety of manufacturers.
If a customer requests it, we can provide IoT sensors and controllers that are engineered and manufactured specifically for use with the Vigilent solution. We use state-of-the-art wireless mesh protocols to establish a self-healing, mesh-to-the-edge network. The network enables our AI to collect telemetry from wireless environmental sensors deployed throughout a facility, and to implement cooling control commands. Thanks to 128-bit encryption, the wireless network is invulnerable to tampering.
