Our Story
The work that would lead to Vigilent started when Cliff Federspiel was focused on his doctorate at MIT, which studied the connections between machine learning and control engineering. Dr. Federspiel further explored these ideas at Johnson Controls, then in academia at U.C. Berkeley, before incorporating Federspiel Controls in 2008. The company was later renamed Vigilent.
Vigilent, headquartered in Oakland, California, has grown to become a global leader in applying AI and machine learning to optimize mission critical facilities. Today, Vigilent counts among its customers, and its partners’ customers, some of the world’s largest data center, telecommunications, enterprise and government organizations. The company has extended its global reach via strategic partnerships across North and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia/New Zealand.
Vigilent’s growth has been supported by investments from Accel Partners; Next47, the venture arm of our strategic partner Siemens AG; strategic partner NTT Facilities; and our customer TELUS Corporation.
