BUILDINGS
Vigilent dynamically optimizes HVAC to improve the operation, value, and sustainability of commercial building portfolios.
Economic Value
HVAC systems can account for more than 50% of a building’s energy use. But much of this energy is wasted, because delivering heating and cooling to match building demand is too complex a problem for typical building automation system controls to solve efficiently.
That's where Vigilent's award-winning AI comes in. Vigilent dynamically optimizes HVAC infrastructure to provide superior energy savings while maximizing occupant comfort.
Vigilent also provides numerous operational benefits, such as identifying incorrect configurations, stuck dampers, and troubled HVAC equipment. Acting on these insights can help building operators increase and maintain the value of the buildings they manage.
“Before Vigilent, we were struggling to achieve our energy efficiency goals, and we were spending a lot of time with technicians and programmers to decipher what was going on with the code.”

“It’s truly a value-add to any building. There’s peace of mind there too, knowing you can automatically follow guidance from ASHRAE or the CDC – something that would be really cumbersome if you tried to do it manually.”

Operational Assurance
Delivering a comfortable and safe tenant environment is the top priority for building operators. Building automation system (BAS) controls over heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) have traditionally filled this role.
However, facility managers now face a more challenging environment, including an increased focus on indoor air quality, higher energy costs, carbon regulation and reporting, flexible office schedules, and a shortage of skilled staff.
Given the complexity and dynamic nature of building operations today, BAS controls lack the sophistication and flexibility to optimize the indoor environment. In contrast, artificial intelligence and machine learning were invented to deal with such difficult challenges.
Across many types of commercial buildings, Vigilent has consistently achieved improvements in comfort and gives operators the ability to better measure and enhance indoor air quality.
Sustainability
Buildings represent the largest source of carbon emissions globally. Just operating them accounts for 28% of emissions. To maintain a healthy planet, it’s essential to cut these emissions as rapidly and deeply as possible.
HVAC is an area where inefficiencies are common and where optimization can deliver significant carbon reduction.
While ensuring that comfort and IAQ requirements are met, Vigilent also cuts HVAC energy use and associated carbon emissions. Immediate reductions of 10-30% are common.
In addition, insights that Vigilent provides can be used to identify broken equipment that is harming a building’s environmental footprint, so that it can be fixed or replaced.
“We are saving more money on the energy bills, which helps us achieve a higher ENERGY STAR rating. We’ve seen a smaller carbon footprint and reduced operational costs overall.”
