Data Center Journal: Vigilent EMS Helps Cut Down Data Center Cooling

Vigilent Corporation, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Digital Realty Trust came together to conduct a study on improving data center energy efficiency. The study was conducted in the El Segundo data center facility that belongs to Digital Realty.The study focused on the deploying the EMS or Energy Management System developed by Vigilent and replaced conventional constant speed scroll fans with its ECM variable speed fans. ECM or electronically commutated motor fans resulted in a 66% decrease in cooling energy.
