Dave is Professor of the Graduate School in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of California at Berkeley, where he has also served as Associate Dean and Acting Dean of the College of Engineering. A Registered Professional Engineer, he co-founded Berkeley Process Control Inc. in 1981, a firm which develops and supplies automation solutions for applications ranging from nuclear medicine to semiconductor fabrication, and which was acquired in 2008 by Moog Inc.
Dave has a longstanding association with the Dynamic Systems and Control Division of ASME including past service as its chair and as the editor of the Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement and Control.
Dave has been twice awarded the Levy Medal from the Franklin institute, the Education Award of the Dynamic Systems and Control Division of ASME, the Education Award of the American Automatic Control Council, the Control Practice Award of the Dynamic Systems and Control Division of ASME, the Donald P. Eckman Award of the Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society, and is a Fellow of the ASME.
Deepak joins the Advisory Board as a representative of TiE Silicon Valley, and is a recognized industry influencer in high technology with proven leadership, management, technology and consulting experience at Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard, and Cisco. His accomplishments include initiating and successfully delivering market-leading data center and infrastructure technologies, networking and security systems, operating systems and virtualization solutions, and server platforms. Some of these technologies have set industry direction and generated billions of dollars in revenues. In addition, he has guided the strategy and direction of number of early-stage startups in the areas of cloud delivered services, networking, data-center automation, service provisioning and management.
Deepak received his Bachelors of Technology in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India and Masters of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland. He is the recipient of the prestigious IIT Kanpur Distinguished Alumnus Award.
Over the past 30 years, Joy Weiss has provided leadership for a broad range of technology companies. Joy was steeped in networking technologies early in her career in a variety of R&D, sales and general management roles at Nortel Networks, including her role as President and GM of Nortel's Network Management division where she presided over record-breaking growth.
As President and CEO of Esker, Joy led the enterprise software company through its IPO and subsequent merger with Teubner, Inc. Most recently, Joy served as President and CEO of Inviso, an award-winning microdisplay company. Joy holds a BS in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
